CAMP 1 & 2

Camp 1 is located at the bottom of Ski Hill at an elevation of 2,438 m (8,000 ft). The hill is shown in the centre of the picture. It is located between Mount Crosson (3,811m/12,503ft) on the left and Kahiltna Peaks on the right.

From Camp 1 we can see the upper ridge of the West Buttress (left on the horizon) and the summit ridge.

Camp 2 welcomes us with a sudden snow storm, which lasts a couple of days. Every few hours we have to go out to shovel the snow away from our tent to stop it from collapsing. Before continuing to Camp 3 we have to wait for the weather to clear and the fresh snow to settle.
