CHO OYU 2000

This expedition is organized by Patagonia Mountain Agency. After twenty eight years I am returning back to the mountains. It is also my first visit to Asia. I spend the first three days exploring Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.

After a week-long trip across the border to Tibet, we set our base camp at the bottom of the northwest face of Cho Oyu. There I have a chance to enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Unfortunately my lack of experience forces me to abandon my climb around 7,000 m.

After the expedition I travel for two days across Tibet and spend a fascinating week exploring Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet.

Flying back to Kathmandu I am lucky to be able to see Cho Oyu and Mount Everest from the south.
